CAMERON AND THE SLUMBERKNIGHTS SUMMER RAINS

‘Summer Rains’ is the newest release from Cameron and the Slumberknights, a UK-based hip-hop collective that fans of Mac Miller and Loyle Carner will be eager to check out. The track uses gloomy electric piano sounds and an evocative electric guitar to craft a sense of nostalgia throughout. Frontman Cam’s introspective lyrics sit at the top, painting a picture of his youth via an intricate flow. “I wanted to write a song that would reflect the way I felt as a nostalgic 20-something, as if time was slipping away post-graduation, owing to the pandemic (and Brexit, probably),” he says. “I’m indescribably proud to say I think we pulled it off. I hope the song is able to remind you of playing out as much as it does for me; Summer Rains isn’t meant to be melancholy, but bittersweet instead.” This is the group’s best songwriting to date, and bodes well for the future. -Dan Peeke
